(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The two-day seminar, organized by the office of the Al-Mustafa International University of Iran in New Delhi and Al-Mustafa Society in collaboration with Centre for the Study of Comparative Religion and Civilizations of Jamial Millia Islamia, New Delhi, was inaugurated by Dr. G R Mahdavi, President of the Al-Mustafa International University of Iran, India branch.
The seminar aimed to spread basic ethics of diffeirnarent religions to establish better relations between humanity and establishing peace around the globe.
Inaugurating the Seminar, Mahdavi in a short address, while focusing on the theme of the seminar said: The tragedy of the religion today is that people are ready to take lives but are not ready to lay down their lives for the religion. If all follow the basics of ethics of their religion, there will be peace in the society and this is the message of the seminar, he added.
Referring to India Mahdavi, said that India with her people, her religions, her temples and for her old and meaningful textual provisions, presents to the world a model of an ideal peaceful co-existent society.
Representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader in India, Hojatoleslam Mehdi Mahdavi Pour in his address said: “Today the human societies are confronted with immoral acts and ethical sensualities which have gradually shakened the pivot of family unit and have inflicted serious damages to the present generation of mankind.”
Clashes, turmoils, disturbances and moral corruptions have now grabbed the place of love, sincerity, truthfulness and confidence, he added.
Hoj. Mahdavi Pour noted that these seminars may prove to be very useful in diverting people’s attention towards their natural deeds and obligations and also may create awareness. Perhaps the message of this seminar would be an invitation to the preachers and scholars of different religions to take serious steps for revival and prevalence of good moral and ethical values in our society and this message is praise-worthy.
He, while keeping in view the existence of divine religions, mystic ethics and atmosphere prevailing in India, suggested institutes shall be established for further studies on this important subject.
Beside Hojatoleslam Mehdi Mahdavi Pour, Seyed Mehdi Nabizadeh, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi, Maulana Dr. Mufti Mukarram, Shahi Imam Fatehpuri Mosque, Delhi, Maulana Syed Kalbe Jawwad, Shia Religious Scholar and Friday Prayer Leader of Asafi Mosque at Lucknow, Giani Gorbachan Singh, Swami Yatendra Nand Giri Maharaj and Dr. J. K. Jain of Jain Television, also addressed the seminar.
The speakers were of the view that there is no conflict between Islam and other religions. There is a need to highlight basics of ethics in Islam and Indian Religions that call for unity.
They also urged to “counteract” the manipulation of religions or religious differences for political ends to preserve the unity of society.
Distinguished Academicians, Scholars, Researchers and Religious Scholars from India and Iran, in large numbers, attended the seminar.
